Support the businesses that support your community!

THE GREATER ALLEGANY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

REMINDS EVERYONE TO SHOP SMALL ON

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25!

Welcome to Small Business Saturday!  As you visit your local merchants on November 25 you may well see the bright blue and white Shop Small signs, banners and balloons.  What is it all about?  Why is it important?  In short, your local mom-and-pop businesses are the fabric that unites your towns and villages.  They are your neighbors, your friends and the ones that give your kids a summer job.  The 3/50 Project, an organization that promotes shopping local all year, tells us this:  "If half the employed population spent $50 each month in locally owned independent businesses, it would generate more than $46.2 billion in revenue."  Why is that important?  For every $100 spent in locally owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures.  If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays here.  Spend it online and nothing comes home.  Small Business Saturday helps spread that word.  Join the Greater Allegany County Chamber and your neighbors on November 25 and remember to Shop Small!
