Allegany County Churches Join Together to Pray for Schools

Allegany County Churches

Join Together to Pray for Schools

A host of Allegany County churches will join together in Belfast Sunday night, August 27, the week before schools start fall sessions, to pray for schools, teachers, students and more as part of their ongoing Journey to Transformation communities movement.

The focus, part of a biweekly praise and worship and prayer time, with live music, that rotates through various parts of the county, will start at 6 p.m. at Belfast Free Methodist Church, 11 Chestnut Street, just off Route 19.

School board members, administrators, teachers, all school support personnel, students, parents and others are invited to be prayed over during the event for God’s blessings for a powerful school year throughout the County.

Sunday night gatherings and other prayer activities throughout the week are continuing an ongoing interdenominational, multi-church focus on renewing of minds and hearts of individuals and families for county and communities transformation.

The intergenerational, multicultural movement provides a communities focus on combating issues of addiction, abuse, racism, suicide, poverty, family dysfunction and more that pastors say are extremely serious issues throughout this area, the United States and the world.

Participating churches earlier this year joined together for a three-evening and one full-day training by the international Sentinel Group that helps equip church leaders for renewal.

This was followed in May by some 120 church-goers participating in a follow-up Solemn Assembly involving worship, declaration of community needs, corporate repentance, and prayer.

September Sunday night sessions, also at 6 p.m., will be held:
-- September 10 at First United Methodist Church, 79 Madison Street, Wellsville.        -- September 24 at Brookside Wesleyan Church, 3456 Andover Road, Route 417, Wellsville.

Ongoing area prayer gatherings during the week, also open to the public, are available from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. each weekday morning at Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, 2987 County Road 9, Scio; 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesdays at the Belfast Free Methodist Church; and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Powerhouse Youth Center, 23 West Main Street, Fillmore.

Friday night community prayer for host, community and county churches, along with transformation within Allegany County and beyond, is being held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
-- This Friday, August 25, at Andover First Baptist Church, 14 Elm Street.
-- September 1 at CrossTown Alliance Church, 450 North Highland Avenue, Wellsville.
-- September 8 at Wellsville Bible Church, 2908 Andover Road, Route 417, Wellsville.
-- September 15 at Genesis Bible Church, 4193 State Route 29 South, Belmont.
-- September 22 at Andover Alliance Church, 5 Rochambeau Avenue.
-- September 29 at Full Gospel Church, 2221 Hanover Hill Road, Wellsville.

Further information on the Journey to Transformation initiative and its individual components is available from Pastor Dan Kenyon, Wellsville Bible Church, at wbc@ne.twcbc.com or (585) 593-6471, or most area pastors.

Individuals also can “Like,” “Follow” and “Share” the initiative's connections page at www.facebook.com/TransformationJourneyUSA for ongoing updates about this movement and to help encourage family members and friends to join in the transformational process as they seek to experience what the Lord is doing and desires to do in Allegany County.
